Pumpkin Patch

We took Lindsay to the Pumpkin Patch this weekend! We went to Underwood Farms in Moorpark and it was just too precious! There was a petting zoo, ponies, hayrides, etc... here are WAY too many pics of our visit.. She thought she was hot stuff standing/leaning on the pumpkins.

There were so many pumpkins and squash of all sizes and colors... here is our sweet pumpkin :)

She was very animated when we sat her in the pumpkins; she wanted to touch the stems and they were a little prickly..lol

There were some gentle goats that we got to pet. They were pretty stinky, but sweet.

Eight Months

The Littlest Pepperdine Fan.... Go Waves! Friday Lindsay turned 8 months. Here are a few pictures before Daddy's big event. She has a mind of her own...she would not smile and was super wiggly! I swear she is not this serious all the time!!

Checkin' out my socks...the came off as soon as we got in the car.

She's was smiling, but I was too slow to catch it :) We have our Dr.'s appointment next month for 9 months, so I can just guess how much she weighs. But I can tell you she has gotten heavier and a little longer. Many of her footie jammies don't fit anymore, and some of her onesies are getting tight in the tummy area.

*Yum!! Lindsay has been eating a few new things... Chicken and Yogurt. She loves them both and is a pro at eating puffs. We have been trying a few finger foods, but she finds them more for entertainment than for eating.

*Teeth...not yet! You can see those bottom teeth in her mouth, but they haven't poked through just yet :)

*Crawling...not so much! She has been pushing up for months, and this week she got her little bottom off the floor. If she has her legs against something solid (like a person or couch) she will push off and scoot along. But, as soon as she gets within reaching distance of what she is after, she will stop and has no interest to go any further. She cracks me up. She is pretty happy just sitting and playing with whatever around her...it takes something special like Daddy's phone or a TV remote for her to get interested in moving to get it...hahaha.

*There is a lot of talking coming from our daughter. Lots of 'dadadada' followed by a shriek or giggle and more 'dadadada'. No 'mamamama' yet, but when she can really talk, boy are we going to hear it!

*Baby Chick Hair... Lindsay is sporting the 'Baby Chick' hairdoo right now.. the front lays down in little feathers, but the back sticks straight up, just like a chick!! Thanks Dad, Love Lindsay.

*Big beautiful blue eyes fringed with long lashes. Sigh.

*Lindsay has been doing much better with strangers lately. It is taking her less and less time for her to warm up to friends.

*Not really sleeping through the night. Oh well. Four more months of breastfeeding... yay!!

*Cutie... Lindsay has realized that if she cocks her head left or right things look different. She has been doing that lately and it cracks us up... She gets pretty animated when she is 'talking' and she will lean her head to the right and I swear, it's like she saying "Right? You know what I mean, Mom?!" Love you sweet girl!!

Blue & Orange Madness

Last Friday was Jarrett's big event, Blue & Orange Madness! He did a fantastic job! For those of you who've never been to one, it is an event that marks the first day of practice for the basketball team. There are two parts; there is a pre-party/carnival in the parking lot below the gym, and then after there is a scrimmage/halftime show. The carnival was amazing this year- they had a ferris wheel, In & Out burgers, dunk tank and rides. Lindsay loved watching the dancers and listening to the music she would kick her legs and wave her arms. It was pretty misty outside, but that didn't keep away the people- it was packed and the gym was at capacity! Showing our Pepperdine Pride!! I swear Lindsay is excited...she is just refusing to smile. LOL

I thought this was funny...she has Daddy wrapped around her finger...literally.

Go Waves! We got to see so many sweet student alumni who are just too wonderful for words. Jarrett and I miss them all! Congrats J.... we are so proud of your accomplishments :)

My new ride

Lindsay's new ride... a jogging stroller! I got a Baby Trend jogging stroller off of craigslist for $85 a couple of days ago. This morning we took it out on the misty track at Pepperdine...

"Hi Mom!" I let her go in her jammies and put a blanket and hat on so she stayed warm. We made it 2 miles before she let me know "I'm finished!".

"I like running with Mama, but she doesn't go very fast!".........YET! Still working on it! LOL

Not exactly what I had in mind, but hey, we are starting good habits young :)

Washington DC

Let me just say, I love when Jarrett has conferences. Actually, I love when I can tag a long with him to his conferences. This past week he had a conference in Washington DC, a city I have never been to and have always wanted to go to. Lindsay and I snuck into his suitcase and here are some of the things we saw... Mount Vernon... Washington's home overlooking the Potomac River

This was on the veranda (I love using that word instead of porch... so much cooler!) The view was amazing. There are a group of ladies who actually protect the view... no one in Maryland (across the river) can build a home or structure within the view of Mt. Vernon. Their goal was to preserve the view as Washington saw it... definitely a nice place to build a home :)

Here is a sweet neighborhood in Alexandria, VA. I loved the row houses. They all have flags on their homes...too cute.

Had to post a picture of Lincoln Monument... went to the Smithsonian and saw a great exhibit on Lincoln; got to see his infamous top hat!

WWII Memorial... When I got home I had so many mosquito bites and I couldn't figure out where I got them. Notice all the water in the background.... I am pretty sure there was a mosquito biting me when this pic was taken.

What a great kid we have! She was such a trooper; she walked with us in the rain, went with us on the subway and toured all the historic sites with her nerdy parents. Here is Colonial Williamsburg... it was really cool to see an actual colonial village. It was a little bit annoying that most of the house tours were guided; those aren't good for babies we discovered.

Favorite moment: This pic is horrible, but we had to take it. We took a scenic drive to Annapolis and drove across the Chesapeake Bay... unfortunately, it was pouring rain and we got stuck on a peninsula after they closed the bridge. We decided to stop for an early dinner and saw a cute little restaurant on one of the docks. We were the only patrons inside the restaurant except for a group of salty sea dogs (ie boat captains/fisherman) at the bar. As we ate our lunch...I had a spectacular Cream of Crab soup... we listened to the seamen drunkenly singing a few favorites like "Yellow Submarine" and "Sweet Child of Mine"... it was a fun memory.

More Colonial Williamsburg... we didn't take a carriage ride, but Lindsay was fascinated. I think we might do a hayride this fall.

We concluded our trip a day early because my sweet Grandma was in the hospital with a blood clot in her lungs. We were able to get an early flight and come home to see her on Saturday. She is doing much better, Praise God! I am so thankful I was able to come home to be with her :)
