Madison's Room

This week I hit the 3rd trimester, and boy, has my nesting instinct been kicking in! I have been super excited about decorating Madison's space. She will be rooming with Jarrett and I for a little while, and although it will be super tight, we think it is best not to have the girls share a room until they get on the same sleeping schedule. Now that Lindsay is sleeping through the night, there is no way we want to interfere with that... one awake child will be enough for this Mama! We will be able to fit her crib in our room, and hopefully, my rocking chair, depending on whether we can move around a few furniture pieces.  That rocking chair is pretty amazing while nursing at 3am.... :) I am so excited for her to have her own room someday, and I have been having fun dreaming about it how I will decorate it!

Here is the bedding:

Yes, I am mixing it up a bit and using blue and pink. I think the ruffles and bows still make it girlie. I LOVE the little bird theme...We are going to get the bedding and crib, and coordinate the other stuff when she gets her own room...

Here's the furniture... Going with white this time around. I have a feeling that the girls will be trading their furniture and rooms as they grow up, so they can each have fun with dark wood and white.

Once we get her little area all set up, I will post some pictures... I was looking at the blog last time this year, and noticed we had Lindsay's room completely set up by this time.. and I was a due a month later. I think this time around we are so much more relaxed, we will be happy to have her area done before New Year's!

I get my next ultrasound on November 21st, and we are so excited to see our sweet girl! I have been doing great and feeling fabulous! My glucose test came back that I can still enjoy my sweets (yay!!), and I have gained a total of 13 lbs. this pregnancy so far, which is 8 lbs less than I was with Lindsay at this time. I chalk it up to chasing around a toddler and sharing all my food with her... easy portion control right? LOL. Jarrett and I are loving being able to skip the baby classes at the hospital this time around, and I think we are going to read a few chapters of What to Expect to brush up our newborn expertise. Madison's been moving and kicking around a lot, and loves to make her presence known whenever I read to Lindsay. Lindsay is doing well wrapping her little mind around the 'big sis' thing, but there is no way we can prepare her for all the changes that are going to rock her little world.  I feel so incredibly blessed to feel so wonderful, and have a healthy happy little girl, a loving and supportive husband and another precious little lady I just can't wait to meet in a few short weeks!

Halloween 2011

Carving a pumpkin... We actually had 3 we were going to carve, but just one took over an hour! It had been a long while since Jarrett or I had carved a pumpkin...

Here's our little Candy Corn... She has a look on her face like, "Back away from the candy!"... She was allowed to have 2 pieces: Snickers and Musketeer snack size.

Can you believe this girl actually LIKED her candy corn hat?!!? When she saw her costume, she said, "Happy! Happy! Oooohhh Pretty!"... What a girlie girl I have. I love it!

Playing at Nonna Carol's... She lasted the entire day without a nap- she was such a good girl. No tanturms and was so sweet and loving with all her grandparents!

Hunt for the Perfect Pumpkin

Hmmmm... so many to choose from...

Last weekend we took Lindsay to the pumpkin patch to pick our her perfect pumpkin. She had fun running through the patch and pointing to the various sizes and colors of pumpkins. Here are a few pics of her little pumpkin hunt!

Later that night we came home and I made Southwestern Pumpkin Soup to keep up with our festive day!! It is my all-time favorite fall soup, made with lime, jalapenos, pumpkin, etc... Sounds strange, but it is so yummy- trust me!!

Calabasas Pumpkin Festival

A couple of weekends ago we went to the Calabasas Pumpkin Festival with Sarah, Nate and Carol who stopped in on their way back to Charlotte. The kiddos had so much fun, and Lindsay is still talking about "Nit" her cousin Nate! 

Groovin' to the music... with Uncle Jarrett. *Yes, Lindsay is wearing a child harness. It looks like a backpack, and it was Jarrett's idea, and he has to walk our daughter if he chooses to use it. LOL. It was actually pretty handy, especially with all the people :)

Nate had so much fun on the bounce house! Lindsay tried to get in, but froze up and wanted to just sit at the entrance for an easy escape... she is still pretty tiny, maybe she will be digging it next year.

Are these some cute cousins or what?!?! The only cousin missing was Katarina, but we will be seeing her for Halloween on Sunday all decked out in her costume!

The festival was so hot (think 88 degrees) but in Malibu it was only 70 degrees. Both kiddos wore so their long sleeve Halloween shirts (don't they make short sleeve ones for us CA people?), and I felt like a terrible Mama every time I looked at their fire-engine red little cheeks! We all had fun, sweaty time, but were glad to go home take some naps before we had dinner at Spruzzo's in Malibu. Thank you Sarah, Nate & Nonna for a wonderful time! We miss you guys and cherish the memories we make when we all get together. Love you!

Blue & Orange Madness 2011

 There were several DJ's there, and Lindsay, our dancing queen, had to take a moment and bust a move.

 It was so hot that day while Jarrett was setting up the events, and right before the village started, a cool, misty cloud set in and made everything look eerie. People said from PCH all they could see were the lights of the Ferris wheel and it looked wicked cool. There was a great turn out, and all the students and staff alike enjoyed In & Out Burger, Pizza, Sweets Truck, etc...

Great Job Babe!! I know that Blue & Orange Madness has become the biggest event of the year all because of your hard work and leadership. You have made your mark at Pepperdine, and will someday leave a legacy of great memories through the events you and SPB put on for students. So proud to be your wife!

Family Fiesta in San Diego

A few weekends ago we had a fiesta in honor of Sarah, Nate & Cranberry's visit to California from Charlotte. Uncle Tim & Aunt Jen hosted the lovely affair, and made delicious Carne Asada/ Steak/ Chicken Fajitas, Nacho Bar, Fresh Salsa, Reid Red Chili Sauce (of course!!) and all the fixings... YUM!! It was a great time to catch up and visit and let the kiddos play.

Shopping for some groceries. These kids had so much fun playing together. Lindsay was Nate's shadow, and wanted to do everything he did.

Adults visiting, kids playing... it is great having kids so close in age to play with each other and entertain us!! Kat was all decked out in her best Halloween tutu and shirt... so precious!

Did I mention that they have an amazing pool?!? The kids all wanted to dive in, just like Java the chocolate lab.

Pants off, diapers on... soggy, wet, regular diapers (we didn't even think to bring a swim one) and it was COLD. I don't think they minded. Lindsay was trying to jump off the step... whoa girl!

Carol brought a Smith's cake all the way from Bakersfield (so yum) to celebrate the new little ladies arriving in December (Cranberry, Dec. 21) and January/February (Madison Grace, Jan. 31) respectively. Note: Sarah & Peter are not naming their daughter "Cranberry"... name reveal will be when she is born... just a family nickname :)

We enjoyed getting to visit with Uncle Mike, Aunt Cherie & Uncle Ted, all who escaped the camera, but could not escape Lindsay's hugs and kisses... boy, does she LOVE her Reid side of the family!!
